'Tis the Season.
Eric, Lyla & I are getting ready for our trip to Wisconsin at the end of this week. We are heading out to the Cheese State to visit Dennis (Eric's brother), Katie (D's wife), and Hope (our 2yr. old niece... who is so stinken cute, and looks just like her daddy!). We have already taken Lyla on a plane (at 2 months.. to Turks and Caicos) but this plane ride will definitely be different. At two months she either slept most of the way or I fed her. And, when she needed a diaper change, Eric whipped the lap tray down and changed her right on it! It will not be that easy this time, so it should be interesting! Eric & I are really excited about going to the Monday Night Football gave at Lambeau Field!! Ravens vs. Packers!! Should be fun (but freezing!).

Just thought I would share some fun pictures I took of Lyla. Happy Holidays!

Happy Thanksgiving.
I'll give everyone one guess to figure out what we are thankful for this year.... duh!

St. Michael's Christmas Bazaar.
Tonight we took Lyla Grace to the annual Christmas Bazaar at our church. Eric typically enjoys hanging out in the 'beer garden' and eating a warm pit beef sandwich.... this year his highlight was waiting in line for Lyla to meet Santa (right Eric?!).
It took her a few seconds to warm up to him. She stared into his eyes and touched his beard. She listened to his deep, yet soft, voice for a few seconds and then looked over at us to make sure everything was alright... after one minute of taking everything in, she was all smiles!
We all ate a few snacks and played some games. We bought some raffle tickets to win a few prizes... and we did! We couldn't believe it... we won a Baltimore Aquarium package! Along with it came an Aquarium mug, pens, stuffed animal and 4 tickets to the Aquarium! So fun!

Happy Halloween.
Last week, Eric and I were super busy... we had two weddings back to back (Friday/Saturday). Congratulations to Beth & Kevin and Melissa and Michael.
So anyway, Lyla was tossed around from one place to another, and we missed her very much (thank you Laura, Kim & Moe!). That's one reason we were so excited to spoil little Miss. Lyla Grace this week/weekend with fun Halloween festivities... other than it being her very FIRST Halloween, of course!

After recuperating from the weekend, Eric and I got the rest of her costume together and bought our candy for the trick-or- treaters (yeah right, we eat most of it)! On Thursday night, we carved pumpkins while Lyla was napping and then when she woke up, we turned out the lights and showed her the Jack-o-lanterns...she was amazed. I would like to think she was amazed with our creativity, but I think she just liked the light inside. Afterwards we watched, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. On Friday she had her Halloween Party at school. She thoroughly enjoyed doing the, "monster mash." After partying hard at school, she took a nap to get rested for round two... Bunco, Halloween Style, at Aunt Betsy's. Eric dressed as a Mummy, and Lyla and I were witches. We had a blast playing Bunco and seeing everyone in costume. Lyla's favorite was Minnie Mouse...not surprising considering she listens to the Minnie and Me tape, ALL OF THE TIME (yes, tape... from the 80's... my cousin Melissa LOVED it.. and is currently sharing it with Lyla.)
Finally, Saturday arrived. We dressed Lyla up as a Bride! My friend Katie had thought of the idea... her son Mason (16 months) was the groom! Too cute! Katie and her mom came over our house around 1pm, and we decorated a wagon for them to ride in. My dad and Marti came over and were surprised by her costume because I kept it a secret. At 2pm we walked to Erics' dads, to meet Moe and Mrs. Kim (2 streets away) and then continued to the top of their street to enter Mason and Lyla in the costume contest. At 3pm, the Halloween parade began. We followed the firetrucks, marching along with all the kids in their adorable/creative costumes. When the parade ended.. .the winners of the costume contest were announced. Can you guess who the winner was????...... LYLA!! I'm not kidding! She won 1ST PLACE for her age group AND .... Mason and Lyla won CUTEST COUPLE!! I couldn't have been more excited (as you will notice in the picture below... after I accepted the award (my dad is very worried I will turn into a "stage" mom!)

Everyone enjoyed snacks and candy at our house afterwards, then headed home to give out treats. Katie, Ken and Mason stayed for trick-or-treating and gave candy out at our house while we walked Lyla around to a few homes. She was back in her witch costume at night. She was fascinated with all the costumes, flashing lights, sound effects and overall fun! Her first Halloween was a success.... what will she be next year???!!!!

First Pumpkin.
We took Lyla Grace to Webers Farm to get our pumpkins and have some Fall fun. There was tons of children's activities there... we started off with the Boo Barn. It was a quick walk through an old dark barn, the stables were decorated "spooky" for Halloween. They were not spooky at all, Lyla didn't flinch. After the Boo Barn, we headed to the slides. They have long plastic boards set up on a hill, and you ride down them on potato sacks. Personally, it was my favorite part of the day (I think Erics too!). We took turns sliding down with L, and she had a blast. Then we looked at the animals for a little while, as we were waiting for the next hay ride pickup. She liked the turkey because he was making the most noise. When the tractor arrived for the hayride, we hopped on, and Lyla sat right on a stack of straw. She loved it! She enjoyed all the bumps and hills, but most of all the straw! She played with it the whole time. After the ride, we went to pick out our pumpkins... first Eric and I got ours, we made sure they were perfect for carving, then Lyla picked out hers, all by herself. She was totally wiped out by the end of the trip. As soon as she was put in her car seat, she fell asleep with a smile, and that to me, means her day was a success!

The Ravens didn't look good, but Lyla sure did.
This week Lyla has made some big strides. We took a walk to her Grandpa Moe & Grandma Kims house, and Lyla sat up in her stroller like a big girl, without the infant carrier attachment, the whole way. She sat up, gripping tight over a few bumps, and was super brave. She was very proud of herself. Lyla was happy to be able to look around at everything, she felt very cool.
She also has a new accomplishment in life... she gives kisses!! Well, if she is in the mood. But if she is... she doesn't stop giving them (you ask her to give you a kiss, and she tilts her head down toward you, usually while batting her eyes... then you give her a big kiss!!) ... it's SO CUTE!!

Happy Half Birthday.
Lyla Grace turned 6 months old today! There are so many updates on her life!
I will start by sharing her trip to Dr. Bucci's on Monday. She had her 6 month check up. She weighs 15lbs. and is in the 25th percentile on the charts. Moving right up! She loved rolling around on the white tissue paper that was on the patients bed, she enjoyed eating it too.

School is getting more fun for her each week and she recently moved up to Level 2!! We now go on Fridays, and she still has the same teacher, Ms. Denise. She now loves parachute time, whereas in Level 1, she was not so thrilled. The baby sliding board is her current fave.

Lyla can roll over from her back to belly and belly to back, however she is not that into it. She does however enjoy sitting up all on her own now!

Lyla is eating 3 "meals" a day, in her highchair, like a big girl. She enjoys carrots, peas, sweet potato's and apples. She has also been testing out some apple-prune juice (to help regulate her flow, if you know what I mean.)

As for playtime, she loves her Bounce-A-Bout. We can plop her in it and she is fully entertained (for a good 30minutes anyway.) She still loves, Yo Gabba Gabba, and her new nighttime movie favorite is, Baby Shakespeare, a Little Einstein's Movie.

She is too 'cool' to relax in the bathtub anymore. Now that she can sit up on her own, she has to sit up in her tubby and play with her toys.

Some not so fun facts about little Miss Lyla Grace... she had her first cold a few weeks ago, and was gloomy and depressed with a majorly runny nose for a couple of days. Her teeth have also been bugging her... we are using drops and baby orajel. She also loves chewing on cold rags. Her 'spitting up' is still going strong. We had about a 5 day stretch where we thought it may be coming to an end, NOT. We are still dealing with the waterfalls!

Her Half Birthday was September 29th. We celebrated with balloons and a special dinner. She had sweet potato's (her favorite vegi.) with chicken!! Watch out! She just loved it. For her Half Birthday present (why not?) we gave her a sippy cup!! And to be honest, she has no interest in holding that by herself or her bottle! Oh well, slow and steady right?

I have an admission to make... when Lyla was born, SO MANY people said to me, "Enjoy every minute, it goes by so fast." I knew what they were saying was going to be true, and promised to take their advice. However after about the 100000th person said it to me, it began to drive me nuts!If I heard one more person say it I was going to scream... But, NOW, I completely understand why all 100000 people said it to me! It has gone by WAY to fast.
