St. Clements Carnival.
Was it way too hot to be outside at a Carnival this evening...? YES.
However, the heat didn't stop Lyla from having a good time. We actually lasted about 2 hours.
Enjoy the pics. Hope you are staying cool!

Simple Summer Fun.
Toddlers always seemed to be easily entertained by household items and nature. Eric and I have never spent a lot of money on toys for Lyla (although we must say she is lucky enough to be spoiled by others- and of course has plenty of toys). But she is pretty good at finding any "thing" and entertaining herself, especially outside. My girlie girl loves sticks and rocks.

Lately we have been spending more time in the pool due to the hot weather. Lyla splashes around and "dives" (meaning she stands up, bends her knees and falls on her belly). As far as pool toys go, she has a ball, and sometimes brings Ariel in for a swim. I recently found a picture online of a "bottle sprinkler." It was simple to make, and Lyla and I had some fun when we made one and gave it a try.

How to make a Bottle Sprinkler

Water bottle (juice, gatorade, etc.)
Knife or scissors
and Water
Permanent Markers (for older kids who want to decorate their sprinkler)

Step 1: Gather supplies

Step 2: Puncture holes into lower half of water bottle

Step 3: Fill with water

Step 4: Enjoy!

Lyla: Mommy, this is SO MUCH FUN. I love the pool. Watch me DIVE!

 Mommy: Great Job Lyla!

Lyla: If only the top of this pool was not in my way...?

Lyla: Mom, you know when Daddy blows up my pool, it stands straight up. Like, my pool is collapsing Mom, what's the deal?

Lyla: OMG

Mommy: Yeah, but does Daddy make you awesome water toys?

 Lyla: Sorry Mommy

Lyla: I love you, can I please stay in my dilapidated pool?

Mommy: Of course! Love you too, my little mermaid!

And we're back to dance class...
The summer session started this week and our little ballerina was THRILLED.

Chris Brown once said, "I think I can beat Usher on the dance floor."
When Lyla is in her dance class, I think she is saying the same thing to herself!

Her hands were rolling, her legs were leaping and her body was twisting and turning.

She's brave. She's wild. And she's free.

We have been away...
Out of town on two nice vacations!
We spent a week in Turks and Caicos (came home for a few days) and headed to the beach for 5 days.

Turks was GORGEOUS, relaxing and I was happy to be with my family and celebrate Andrew and Juanita's wedding. Lyla Grace was the flower girl.
No- I do not have any pictures- I KNOW... crazy, right?

PHOTO TIP: When taking your camera from an air conditioned condo, into Island heat... be aware that your camera will condensate and fog up!! It will take about 10 minutes for your lens to be clear for use. Ten minutes was too long in this situation. We attended the quickest wedding ever. It lasted all of ten minutes. Therefor, not one wedding pic.
So sad.

Anyway... I do have other pictures from Turks and I have some from the Beach.
We celebrate the fourth of July in Ocean City with Kim and Moe, along with our friends Kevin and Melanie who were also there.

I am adjusting to being home again.
Laundry, cleaning, work, (blah, blah, blah)...
at least it's summer and there are a bunch of fun things I want to do.

Enjoy the random pics. from our travels.

(oh- and just because this blog is mainly about the princess... I have been meaning to mention some milestones- she is sleeping in her 'big girl bed' and she is POTTY TRAINED! Well, she still wears a diaper when she sleeps- but I can still say she is potty trained, right? I mean, I AM saying it. She wears big girl panties, tells us when she has to put her 'pee pee' and 'poo poo' in the potty- and stays dry. She is saving us lots of moolah on the diapers! Love it.

Ok- the pics.

She did awesome on the plane going, coming home - not so much.

I LOVE this picture of Lyla and DoeDoe.

We celebrated Amys Sweet 16.

She loved getting herself some ice cold water. She thought she was pretty cool.

Celebrating the 4th...

The social butterfly had no problem making friends.

We skipped the beach this trip and hung out at the pool.

Baby Conor- adorable.

Kevin and Eric.

Lyla and Conor.

The rides on the boardwalk were my favorite part of the weekend. So much fun!

She had a tight grip on anyone who was holding her this year, during the fireworks.

 Love this picture.

We hope everyone had a Fabulous Fourth! xo
